Kalo Megh Selected for Berlin South Asian Film Festival

We are incredibly honored to announce that Kalo Megh, our documentary series about the river communities of the Sundarbans, has been officially selected for screening at the Berlin South Asian Film Festival 2025. This is a milestone not just for our team, but for the stories and communities the film represents.

Kalo Megh was born from two years of immersive research in the Sundarbans — the world's largest mangrove forest and home to communities whose lives are shaped by the tides, the rivers, and the ever-present tension between humans and nature. It is a place of extraordinary beauty and extraordinary vulnerability.

The documentary follows three families over the course of a year, capturing the rhythms of life in one of the most unique ecosystems on Earth. From honey collectors who risk tiger encounters to fisherwomen who navigate rising waters, each story is a testament to human resilience in the face of environmental change.

Being selected for Berlin is validation that these stories transcend geography. The challenges facing the Sundarbans communities are local, but the themes — displacement, adaptation, the relationship between humans and their environment — are universal. We cannot wait to share these stories with a global audience.
